Port of Baltimore Open House – Birding Walk – October 17
October 17 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am EDT
This event runs from 7:30-9:30 AM. Please park on either side of Kembo Road prior to the first set of gates onto the site. Guests are invited to stay after the walk to participate in self-guided birding until 1:30 PM or participate in the other Open House activities until 2PM. Due to contractor work on site, access to the Dredged Material Containment Facility (DMCF) is limited and therefore will not be included in the guided bird walks this year. Event Location: Cox Creek 1000 Kembo Rd, Curtis Bay, MD 21226
Parking: Once you drive through the first gate, you will pass the office building on the left. Please park along the road on your right, across from the building.
Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
Tour Details & Safety Information for Confirmed Registrants
Birding tours are typically held on unpaved roads with rock, gravel, or mud with the potential of crossing shallow water. Participants must be prepared to board a bus or boat and traverse several miles of uneven terrain. We recommend bringing telescopes, binoculars, water, and adequate sun protection. For your safety, please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Open-toe shoes, sandals, or thin-soled sneakers are not permitted.
The birding tour may be canceled in the event of high winds or inclement weather. Please check your email 24 hours before the event to be sure there has been no unforeseen cancellation. This walk may be canceled on the morning of the event due to unforeseen circumstances. Click here for the full list of safety guidelines and site rules.
Our birding tours are popular and often have a waitlist. If you need to cancel your lottery registration, you can do so directly from a link found in the confirmation email sent when you originally registered. Please use this link in your confirmation email to cancel your registration by entering the email address you signed up with on the cancellation page. Please note that all other people you registered for the lottery under that original registration will also be canceled. If others in your original party are still interested in attending, they will need to re-register.
